Join the Pratt Alumni New York City Network for a discussion about the intersection between art and design and the tech industry. A panel of Pratt alumni will share their advice, opinions, and experiences working in the tech industry.



Sandra Atakora, MID ’17
Director of User Experience, Perch

Sandra Atakora is an award-winning interaction designer and creative director. In 2017, Sandra joined Perch, a NYC-based leader in interactive retail design, where she currently serves as UX Director creating mixed reality experiences for clients such as Macy's, Barnes & Noble, and Johnson&Johnson. Sandra's experience includes designing and building AR applications, both personally in an exploratory practice and professionally as an independent consultant. In 2019, she produced and directed 'PLAY', an experimental aerial production hosted at Soft Surplus.

Sandra has studied design at the Royal College of Art, Imperial College London, and Keio University. She holds a BSc from Aalborg University and a Master of Industrial Design from Pratt Institute.

Kat Gates, BFA Graphic Design ’87
Creative Director, Google

Kat Gates, Creative Director and Creative Effectiveness Lead at Google uses the power of data, insights, technology, and keen understanding of culture to drive big ideas and help solve creative marketing challenges. Kat started in the agency world where she led big ideas and won some big awards for brands like Pampers, Always, and Iams. She left the agency world to go to Facebook and then Viacom where she did deep dives in social media and influencer marketing. In her spare time Kat is a YouTube creator and has two fast growing channels: Kat Gates-Buettner (fitness channel) and Synthesis Musical Pairings.

William Verbist, AOS Graphic Design ’99
Principal UX Designer, Amazon Go

For twenty plus years, Bill Verbist has been able to use his love of technology and passion for design to investigate, innovate, and deliver digital experiences. And while technology inspires him with its infinite possibilities, it is people that continue to drive him forward with the chance to bring them closer, save them time, or maybe even enrich their lives. Whether leading multidisciplinary design teams or as an individual contributor, he is a maker at heart and loves to collaborate with talented technologists to see ideas grow. Currently, he works at Amazon helping transform how customers shop in retail environments.


Chanice Hughes-Greenberg, BFA Writing '10
Strategist, Blue Slate

Chanice Hughes-Greenberg is a seasoned fundraiser and digital marketer, having worked in the Membership and Development departments of The Museum of Modern Art, The Studio Museum in Harlem, and Museum of the City of New York. Chanice recently joined Blue State as a Strategist on their Content & Campaigns team, fundraising for clients such as UNICEF USA and Covenant House. Chanice received a BFA in Writing from Pratt Institute, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees as a Recent Graduate Trustee. Her writing has appeared in Studio Magazine, No, Dear Magazine, The Recluse, and other publications.
