The Center for Climate Adaptation (CCA) was established as a Provost Center at Pratt Institute in 2024. The first Provost Center in over a decade, CCA researches strategies that leverage design enabling us (and our non-human counterparts) to live with irreversible climate change. Our work focuses on island archipelagos, which comprise 1 - 1.5 billion human inhabitants globally; NYC and Long Island among them. These include some of the most sensitive land and water based urban ecologies and require adaptive solutions for future social, urban and economic growth.
While based in NYC, CCA has partner Centers in Singapore and Santiago, Chile extending its work into the Malay and Patagonian Archipelago’s. Donations will serve to support our work with local communities and government agencies and our space on Governors Island which is open to the public weekly and where exhibitions, events and workshops including our students and faculty see thousands of visitors annually. Donations will also assist in facilitating our growing international presence by helping to support student-faculty engagement, projects, workshops, events and exhibitions in those regions.
